THE P.I.R CARGO TROUSER STORY
The inspiration for P.I.R Cargo trousers came from an intense interest in the clothing and uniforms worn by U.S. soldiers in World War II, particularly the cargo style trousers worn by paratroopers during and after the D-Day invasion. The company is respectfully named P.I.R in reference to the "Parachute Infantry Regiments" who donned these various uniforms throughout the Normandy invasion and through to the fall of Berlin.
In 1942, LTC William Yarborough created a unique pair of cargo trousers. These well-made, durable trousers were part of a uniform ensemble dubbed the "M1942 jumpsuit." This uniform was worn by paratroopers in the D-Day invasions and shortly afterward. When the coast was secured and our forces moved inland the "M1942s" were replaced with the "M1943 combat suit". The full cut trouser came to the units sans the cargo pocket, however the men missed the utility of the large cargo pocket and the pockets were added by "riggers" using different materials, mostly canvas.
P.I.R Clothing Company pays tribute to these trousers in quality, durability and comfort. We've updated them a bit to fit the style of today's customer. Trousers from the 1940's were worn high above the waist so we lowered the waist a bit to sit slightly above the hips and removed some bagginess from the seat. The lower leg opening has been extended to fall properly over casual shoes, instead of being tucked inside a combat boot. Regardless of these slight modifications, all P.I.R styles retain the fit and heritage of those trousers worn by our boys in wartime Europe.
All styles of P.I.R Cargo Trousers are made from heavyweight cotton ranging from 7.4 to 8.4 ounces. The interiors feature full heavy cotton linings with deep pockets. All models are built with trouser construction and can be tailored. Hems are finished at 35 inches. We use both button and zip fly's, depending on the model. Sizes run in evens 30 through 38.
P.I.R Cargos are a little stiff when new, but soften beautifully after a wash or two. We feel that the best pair of cargos or khakis are the ones broken in naturally by the customer himself rather than by machines at the factory. The extra effort creates a truly personal garment.
Many thanks for your consideration. We're sure you will enjoy the quality, fit and history of P.I.R Cargo Trousers.
Best Regards,
Kevin Churchman

P.I.R Cargo Trousers are a lifestyle product. They are cut from patterns of WWII US Paratrooper uniforms, however changes have been made to fit the tastes of current consumers. P.I.R Cargo Trousers are not historically accurate in fabric and color therefore they are not recommended for use in historic reenactments.
